
HRCU signs a new partnership agreement with DGF
The Human Rights Centre Uganda (HRCU) signed a partnership agreement of UGX 2,537,199,668 for duration of three years with the Democratic Governance Facility (DGF) on 20th April, 2018.
The DGF comprises of seven development partners namely; Austria, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the European Union. DGF supports state and non state partners to strengthen democratization, protect human rights, improve access to justice and enhance accountability in Uganda. It promotes the development of Uganda's centers of excellence in specific areas related to democratic governance and supports the efforts of Ugandan citizens to ensure peace, prosperity and justice for all.
HRCU welcomes the new partnership with the DGF whose purpose is to strengthen support and protection of Human Rights Defenders in Uganda. The project seeks to address the capacity gaps within Human Rights Defenders (HRDs); increase their legal recognition and collaboration with the state.
The partnership agreement was signed between the Chairperson, Mr.J.M Aliro Omara and the Executive Director Ms. Margaret Sekaggya on behalf of the Human Rights Centre Uganda and the Head of the Facility Management Unit, Mr. Wim Stoffers on behalf of the Democratic Governance Facility.
The Democratic Governance Facility has been a strong supporter of the Human Rights Centre Uganda’s work over the years.
