NEWS LETTER Jan - Mar

Dear reader,

Welcome to the Human Rights Centre Uganda (HRCU) Newsletter for January to March 2025! We’ve intensified our advocacy engagements to strengthen the protection and promotion of human rights defenders (HRDs) across Uganda and promoting a conducive working environment between CSOs and Government of Uganda. A key highlight was our CSO follow-up meeting, where we collaborated with over 50 civil society organizations to address the evolving working environment for CSOs, in a bid to enhance civic space and CSO governance.

Our Access to Justice Project in Northern Uganda gained momentum, with targeted initiatives to increase access to justice and human rights protection among the youth HRDs, ensuring survivors of human rights violations access effective remedies. We are thrilled to announce the signing of a significant grant agreement with the Royal Danish Embassy, alongside partners from the Irish Embassy, Netherlands, and Sweden. This partnership will bolster our capacity to improve civic space in Uganda through strategic engagements between the CSO sector and Government of Uganda.
